| | .jpg) | Tension Roll Transducers
Tension roll transducers and dead-shaft idler roll are combined in one integral unit. No assembly is required. Faster, easier, and less expensive to install than separate roll and transducers. Only one transducer cable--eliminates cable crossing between machine frames. Roll diameters from 4 inches (100mm)and up. Face widths to 120 inches (3050mm). Load ratings from 12 to 2000 pounds (55 to 8900N).

| | .jpg) | NWI Narrow Web Tension Transducers
The NWI Narrow Web Tension Transducer combines a bearing-mounted idler roll and two tension sensing elements in one package. It measures tension in a moving web of paper, film, foil or other material. Typically, it is used in tension control and display systems in label, tag, or tape printing or processing machines where the machine has only one side frame and the idler rolls are cantilevered.
The NWI Narrow Web Tension Transducer is highly accurate because it has sensing elements at each end of the idler roll. This arrangement is functionally the same as wide web tension measuring schemes, using two tension transducers and a separate idler roll. The sensing elements measure total web tension accurately regardless of web position on the roll, and regardless of which edge of the web is tight. Constructed of stainless steel and aluminum for excellent corrosion resistance.

| | .jpg) | Model C Tension Transducers
The industry standard in strain-gauge based tension transducers (sometimes called 'load cells'). Model C Tension Transducers are completely sealed to protect the inside from dust and water. Recessed seals are protected from damage. Available in three frame sizes and both live-shaft and dead-shaft versions. Choose from five available mounting styles: "S" (screw mount), "FL" (flange mount), "PB" (pillow block mount), "PFL" (piloted flange mount), "TF" (through-frame mount). These rugged, time-proven transducers have many other features. Download Model C Tension Transducers Specification Sheet below.

| | .jpg) | Roll Shell Transducers
The Model TR is based on the Model C transducer. These transducers, used in pairs, quickly convert a simple metal tube into a tension-sensing idler roll. One Roll Shell Transducer locks into each end of an aluminum or steel cylindrical tube to make an easy-to-install tension-sensing roll. Special expanding-collet coupling design allows easy insertion of transducer into the roll shell. Once tightened, the collet fastens the transducer firmly into the tube. Load ratings from 10 - 800 lbs. (44N - 3559N).

| | .jpg) | RFA - Ribbon Filament Transducers
The RFA Ribbon Filament Transducers are designed to measure tension in any moving ribbon, filament, or very narrow web. Ideal for wire, plastic, rubber, metal, glass, composite or other flexible substrate. Three standard wheels available--one for ribbon (specify width), one for filament, or the adapter model for custom requirements. Three mounting styles available: "S" (standard), "FL" (flange), and "PB" (pillow block).

| | .jpg) | LT - Low Tension Transducers
Strong, compact low transducers that convert filament or web tension into a D.C. voltage proportional to tension. Typically used in filament winding, fiber processing and materials' applications that require tension control at very low levels. Dual cantilevered beam for tensional stiffness, strength and accuracy. Measure low tension accurately in any moving ribbon or filament.

| | .jpg) | Model UPBH Tension Transducer Tension sensing tool
For those measurement applications with a high load (heavy tension) on the substrate and idler rolls in the web path, the UPBH (and UPBV), used in pairs, is the tension sensing tool needed. These transducers are built to last. Unique parallelogram construction provides strength and reliability. Made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and aluminum. No hinges, no joints.
Consider using Model C tension transducers (or any other style) mounted on top of UPB transducers for web applications requiring a very wide tension range. UPBs were designed to pick up web tension measurement with heavy loads that can't be accurately handled by normal load transducers.
UPBH (Under Pillow Block Horizontal-force) style transducers are used when the force direction is running predominantly parallel to the mounted transducer's top plate. Two frame sizes.

| | .jpg) | VNW Transducers Tension Sensor
VNW Very Narrow Web Transducer for tension sensingThe VNW (Very Narrow Web) transducer is a compact tension sensing device for measuring process tension in narrow web (up to six inches wide), ribbon or filament. The VNW transducer combines the robust and versatile design of DFE's time-proven Model C shaft-end transducers with a choice of mounting styles and wheel options from the RFA-style cantilevered transducers. DFE has kept the quality of the VNW transducer high while offering it at a highly competitive base price.
A VNW transducer is cantilever-mounted on process machinery for unwind, payoff, rewind, take-up, or intermediate zone applications. Tension is measured by high-output silicon strain gages housed internally on a dual cantilevered transducer beam and connected in a wheatstone bridge configuration. As the ribbon or filament passes over the rotating transport wheel, the force of the substrate on the wheel shaft causes a minute deflection of the transducer beam. The resulting change in strain gage resistance yields a voltage output from the transducer that is proportional to tension. The transducer output is then amplified by a DFE indicator or automatic controller for tension measurement or complete closed-loop tension control.

| | .jpg) | Model THN Transducer Measures Tension in Tight Spaces
The THN (thin) transducer is a strain-gauge sensing device used for measuring tension in web processes. Based on the design for the company's popular Model C tension transducers, but thinner, at only 2.4 inches wide, THN transducers work in pair and are mounted onto opposite ends of an idler roll shaft (dead-shaft or live-shaft).
The complete tension-sensing roll assembly is instaled as a desired location in a machine's web path. At just over 2 inches wide, the THN shares the low profile characteristic of other oancake-style shaft mount load cells, but robust design and reliability set the THN apart.
