 TE525

The TE525 tipping bucket rain gage is manufactured by Texas Electronics. The TE525 measures in 0.01 inch increments. Precipitation is funneled into a bucket mechanism that tips when filled to a calibrated level. A magnet attached to the tipping mechanism actuates a switch as the bucket tips. The momentary switch closure is counted by the pulse-counting circuitry of Campbell Scientific dataloggers.

 TE525MM

The TE525-series tipping bucket rain gages are manufactured by Texas Electronics. The TE525MM measures in 0.1 mm increments. The gage funnels precipitation into a bucket mechanism that tips when filled to a calibrated level. A magnet attached to the tipping mechanism actuates a switch as the bucket tips. The momentary switch closure is counted by the pulse-counting circuitry of Campbell Scientific dataloggers.

 TE525WS

The TE525-series tipping bucket rain gages are manufactured by Texas Electronics. The TE525WS measures in 0.01 inch increments.

 TB4

The TB4 rain gage is manufactured by Hydrological Services Pty. Ltd. Rain funnels into a tipping bucket mechanism that tips when 0.01 inches (0.25 mm) of rain has been collected. Each tip is marked by a dual reed switch closure that is recorded by a Campbell Scientific datalogger pulse count channel. After measurement, the water drains through two orifices (accepts 12 mm tubing) in the base, allowing the measured water to be collected in a separate container.

 CS700

The CS700 rain gage is manufactured by Hydrological Services.

 CS705

The CS705 is a snowfall adapter for tipping bucket rain gauges. It converts any standard 6" or 8" rain gage to a year-round rain and snow gage. The CS705 consists of an antifreeze reservoir, over-flow tube, and catch tube. Snow captured in the catch tube dissolves into the antifreeze. The melted snow raises the level of the antifreeze and water solution. The mixture flows through the over-flow tube into the tipping bucket where it is measured by the tipping bucket mechanism.

 385

Met One's Model 385 provides year-round measurement of rain or snow. It features a 12-inch diameter orifice that funnels precipitation into the tipping bucket assembly. When the tipping bucket fills, it tips and activates a reed switch. The switch closure is recorded by the datalogger, which is typically programmed to output total rainfall over a time interval such as an hour or day. If rainfall intensity data are desired, the datalogger can be programmed to record every tip or total rainfall every one to two minutes during the event.
