Acme leadscrews are regular motion drive systems consisting of a thread angle of 29 degrees and are used in several manual mechanisms ranging from mills to lathes to food processing plants to the equipment with highest precision found in hard disk platter manufacturing plants. They deliver extremely high accuracy in spite of similarity to conventional screw/nut in construction and function. Carbon steel or stainless steel are the most common materials of construction; however other grades of stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum alloys are also used. These screws are utmost preferred for basic motions.
