Double or twin lead screws are unison of a shaft with threads formed on their surface and a nut. In this type of screws, the distance covered by the screw in the axial direction in a single turn is twice the pitch. They are preferred for their high performance, smooth and noiseless operation, nuts capable of self-orientation, accuracy in positioning over lengthy distances and durability. Screws of this type are employed to move tables and other machine parts, as well as in recorders, printers and color scanners and other graphic imaging equipment for accuracy.
