Electrical Discharge Machining (or EDM) is a method that utilizes an extremely slender wire as an electrode in the process of shaping hard metals that exhibit electrical conductance. EDM carves out the metal shape by bordering out scrap through the rapid generation of contiguous electrical discharges that journey between the metal being machined and the electrode. The wire is introduced into the material slowly and the cutting is, in reality, accomplished by the discharges. The required shape takes form by the production of deeper craters in the target piece ensuing the recurring discharges. The wires serving as electrodes are typically made of special brass.
