Plastic injection molding transforms molten plastic into a designed shape by pumping the molten plastic under extreme pressure into a mold made of suitable material. Upon cooling, the object is removed from the mold, retaining its shape. More complex shapes have removable sections or slides built into the mold. The raw material is in the form of pellets (resin) formulated for specific hardness and malleability applicable to the intended use of the finished product.
