Fixtureworks' New 'Sof-Top' Urethane Grippers: Secure Holding Plus Surface Protection
Fraser, MI - Combining secure workholding with excellent protection for finished surfaces, particularly in assembly, machining, inspection or repair operations, the Sof-Top Urethane Grippers are now available from Fixtureworks® (Fraser, MI), a leading North American manufacturer and supplier of workholding technologies and machine tool components. The non-marking, non-staining Sof-Top grippers feature a bubbled urethane surface that provides for superior non-slip grip. The "bubbled" texture of the urethane top offers firm holding and allows air to escape so no suction is created between the contact surface and the top of the rest pad as it is compressed. The urethane surface, which offers superior abrasion and wear resistance, is available in three durometers (strength ratings). Sof-Top grippers are available in several sizes and mounting configurations to meet a wide array of application needs. With the fixed gripper configuration, the urethane surface is permanently bonded to a 300 series stainless steel pad. They are blind-hole tapped for back side mounting and are offered in sizes ranging from 5/16" to 1" (8-25 mm).

AGI Automation Components Introduces New O-Ring Gripper   New Rexroth EcoShape Tubular Framing System Ideal for Lean Factories
Trumbull, CT - AGI is introducing an O-Ring gripper, along with a complete range of automation products that include, parallel grippers, rotary actuators, thrusters, powered slides, mini slides, tool changers, overload devices. The O-Ring gripper made for picking and placing O-Rings on the parts. The twelve-jaw gripper has two independent pistons, the six spreading jaws are double acting and the six ejector jaws are single acting. When air pressure is applied to the first piston, six parallel jaws spread the o-ring. The O-ring is stretched evenly in a hexagonal shape; this allows the O-Ring to be expanded with considerably less deformation. The stroke can be precisely adjusted using the setscrew. After the o-ring is expanded and over your part, air pressure is applied to the second piston. This causes the ejector jaws to push forward and press the O-Ring from the spreading jaws onto the part being assembled.   Buchanan, MI - Rexroth's new tubular framing system, EcoShape, used in combination with components from Rexroth's Manual Production Systems (MPS), makes it easy to construct custom workstations, material shuttles or flow racks. EcoShape's easy-to-use design allows customers to quickly create new solutions or optimize and extend old ones. This makes it possible to continually improve existing assembly lines and avoid errors through the application of the kaizen or poka-yoke principles in a lean manufacturing setting. EcoShape is based on reusable and recyclable anodized aluminum profiles and also includes caps and connection elements. Special adapters from Rexroth's modular aluminum framing system are also available for the aluminum profiles, for applications requiring high load-bearing capacities. With Rexroth's connection technology that compensates for minor length differences, workers can easily cut and set up the aluminum tubes on-site. These intuitive connection elements are bolted together for easy re-use or reconfiguration, while ensuring securely-fastened, high-performance structures.

Walla Walla, WA - Key Technology introduces Manta 1600, a new family of high performance, mid-volume sorters. Featuring a 1520-mm wide scan area and up to seven cameras and two lasers, Manta 1600 sorts as much as 15 metric tons of product per hour to perfectly match the requirements of most processed vegetable, potato, and fruit production lines. With 0.5-mm camera resolution, the Manta 1600 sets a new standard in its class and, combined with object-based sorting, performs at levels that no other sorter can match today. Incorporating innovative design features that Key first introduced in 2008 with its two-meter wide high-volume Manta 2000 sorter, the new smaller Manta 1600 was developed for the many mid-volume customers in Key's core markets. To meet the specific needs of each application, Key can configure Manta 1600 to include a combination of cameras and lasers for on-belt and off-belt in-air viewing.   Flanders, NJ - Rudolph Technologies, Inc., a worldwide leader in process characterization solutions for the semiconductor manufacturing industry, announced today the release of Discover Fast Review and Die Sort Classification Software for back-end manufacturing. It is specifically designed to dramatically reduce the time and cost of reviewing backend manufacturing defects detected by the NSX® Series automated macro defect inspection system. Discover automatically classifies defects, either on-line or off-line, eliminating the time-intensive need to review multiple instances of similar defects. It also distinguishes nuisance defects that do not have an impact on yield from those that should receive further off-line investigation, reducing costly, labor-intensive manual review. Discover is now available on new NSX Systems or as a retrofit for existing NSX installations.
