General Dynamics Receives NSA Certification for Sectéra vIPer Phone Enabled With Public Switched Telephone Network Connectivity  
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The National Security Agency (NSA) has certified the Sectéra vIPer Universal Secure Phone enabled with Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) connectivity for voice communications classified at the Top Secret level and below. The Sectéra vIPer Phone with PSTN Connect allows U.S. military and government personnel to make both classified and unclassified calls using traditional telephone networks via one high-end office desktop phone. The Sectéra vIPer Phone is a secure communication product manufactured by General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics. “The certification makes the vIPer Phone with PSTN Connect a cost-effective solution as users will no longer have support and maintenance of their legacy Secure Telephone Units or STU-IIIs,” said John Cole, vice president of Information Assurance for General Dynamics C4 Systems. “PSTN and VoIP network flexibility, combined with the vIPer Phone’s interoperability with the government’s Secure Terminal Equipment (STE), also enables customers to easily transition to the latest technology.”

Oshkosh Defense Receives $290 Million Delivery Order for the U.S. Army Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles   dB Control Debuts Two High-Power, Ultra-Low Phase Noise Microwave Power Modules
OSHKOSH, Wis. - Oshkosh Corporation announced that it has reached a milestone production rate for the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) of 1,000 vehicles per month on December 18. The production for December is the sixth consecutive month Oshkosh exceeded delivery requirements. Since being awarded the contract on June 30, 2009, Oshkosh has been steadily ramping up production, and will continue at this rate of 1,000 vehicles per month through May 2010 to deliver the 6,619 vehicles currently under contract. "Our employee gave a great effort to meet the aggressive production timeline for these urgently needed vehicles. These M-ATVs will help improve the safety and mobility of our soldiers and Marines in Afghanistan," said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. "Staying on or ahead of our delivery schedule goes beyond the M-ATV program. It is a core value with every order we receive and every high-quality vehicle we produce here at Oshkosh."   Fremont, Calif. - dB Control, an established manufacturer of reliable, high-power microwave amplifiers, radar transmitters and power supplies, introduced two new microwave power modules (MPMs) at AOC’s 46th Annual International Symposium and Convention in Washington, D.C. The dB-4118 and dB-3758 MPMs are designed for manned and unmanned airborne applications, including EW threat simulation, electronic counter measures (ECM) and multi-mode synthetic aperture radars (SAR). The modules are the latest additions to dB Control’s family of MPMs designed to meet stringent military specifications and perform in harsh environments. The dB-4118 operates in the 6 GHz to 18 GHz frequency range and provides 100 Watts CW RF output power. The power conditioner uses low-noise power supply topology incorporating high-efficiency, solid state power conversion circuits. This compact, conduction-cooled MPM is designed to operate in high-altitude airborne environment and uses a high-speed modulator to obtain a pulse modulation of up to 250 KHz - a pulse repetition frequency (PRF) rate unmatched in the industry.

Smiths Detection In Partnership For Next Generation Baggage Scanner   LaBarge Awarded $18.9 Million Contract from Sikorsky for Black Hawk Helicopter Program
London, UK - Smiths Detection announced an agreement with Analogic to develop the next generation of high-speed Explosives Detection Systems for screening checked airport baggage Under the agreement, both companies will utilise their complementary expertise in multi-energy x-ray technology and three-dimensional Computed Tomography (CT) to develop a detection system to be manufactured by Smiths Detection. Analogic will focus on the development of new high-precision CT components to be incorporated into this system. The development cost will be absorbed within Smiths Detection’s ongoing R&D spend over the next two to three years. The new scanner will maximize both detection and throughput capabilities to help meet increasingly stringent international security requirements and allow easy integration into advanced baggage-handling systems. LOUIS, MO - LaBarge, Inc. has been awarded a multi-year contract valued at approximately $18.9 million from Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. to produce electronic assemblies for various models of UH-60 BLACK HAWK helicopters through 2014. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.. LaBarge has manufactured cables and electronic assemblies for the BLACK HAWK program since 2005. The new contract expands LaBarge's manufacturing role to include additional types of electronic assemblies that support lighting and power systems in the helicopters. Production on the contract's initial release, which is valued at $3.5 million, began this month and is expected to continue through December 2010. LaBarge is performing the work at its Huntsville, Ark., facility. Designed and manufactured by Sikorsky, the BLACK HAWK helicopter is the U.S. Army's primary utility tactical transport helicopter, which is capable of a variety of missions from combat assault and peacekeeping to disaster relief and medical evacuation. The BLACK HAWK helicopter is equipped with advanced avionics and electronics systems and is part of the Army's long-term effort to modernize its medium-lift helicopter fleet.

AAI Receives $39 Million Award for Additional Shadow Systems   Northrop Grumman, U.S. Coast Guard Complete Critical Design Review of Nationwide Automatic Identification System
HUNT VALLEY, Md. - AAI Corporation, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company, announced that it has received a $39 million production order for additional Shadow Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (TUAS). The order includes two additional units for the U.S. Army and one for the Marine Corps. Including this new order, a total of 116 Shadow TUAS have been ordered by the Army, Army National Guard, Army Special Forces and Marine Corps. To date, AAI has delivered 91 Shadow systems and deliveries now extend through March 2011. Each Shadow system includes four Shadow aircraft; two One System ground control stations and ground data terminals; four One System Remote Video Terminals, or OSRVTs; a One System portable ground control station; and associated components and support equipment. "With so many Shadow systems in the field and more than 460,000 flight hours amassed, we're witnessing an incredible evolution in mission capabilities," says AAI Vice President of Unmanned Aircraft Systems Steven Reid.   RESTON, Va. - The U.S. Coast Guard and Northrop Grumman Corporation have successfully completed a Critical Design Review (CDR) of the core data exchange capability that will serve as the foundation for Nationwide Automatic Identification System (Nationwide AIS). The CDR demonstrates that the maturity of the design is appropriate to proceed with full-scale fabrication, assembly, integration and test. The review determines the technical effort is on track to complete the development that will meet mission performance requirements within the identified cost and schedule constraints. "By collaborating closely with the Coast Guard, we were able to complete the Nationwide AIS program critical design review three weeks ahead of schedule -- and within budget," said Mike Twyman, vice president of Integrated Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence Systems for Northrop Grumman's Information Systems sector. "We will continue our focus to bringing forward this key capability that ensures greater security and more efficiency for our nation's ports and waterways."

BAE Systems Equips U.S. Army Helicopters with Infrared Countermeasures   AlarmPoint Systems Saves Global Professional Services Firm $2.2 Million
