About Applied Ceramics:
ACI was formed in 1967 to provide primarily alumina and zirconia Kiln Furniture to electronic component manufacturers as well as others requiring special refractory shapes. Markets served include those firing titanates, especially barium titanate capacitors or other PTC, NTC, or thermistor type bodies. Products are used by manufacturers of varistors, PZT, PLZT, ferrites, and other exotic and/or electronic ceramic. Additional products produced include saggers for calcining powders; grinding media for mixing and particle size control; pusher plates for continuous kilns; non-reactive setters for firing product; crucibles and other containers for molten and/or dry thermal processing; as well as special shapes for high temperature or reactive processes including tongue and grove zirconia brink and insulating zirconia bubble brick.

In 1980, ACI acquired the base technology for ceramic honeycomb. Products are now produced for application as catalyst support/substrate, molten metal filters, gas/liquid flow control, and mechanical/thermal supports. These products are available in a broad range of chemistries and designs. Although generally produced in cordierite, shapes are available in mullite, zirconia, and a range of specialty ceramic and non-ceramic bodies. Cell structures from 4 to over 400 cells per square inch are available.

As a resut of the heightened awareness of environmental concerns, interest in catalytic substrate has grown dramatically. ACI annually produces thousands of cubic feet which are catalytically coated for use in V.O.C., S.C.R., OZONE, F.G.C. and other related applications. This has led to an expanded international presence. In 1987, ACI entered into a venture with the Hyundai group of Korea. In 1993, ACI entered ino a joint venture with General Motors, to produce automotive substrate internationally. This has expanded ACI's overall capability to reach the objective of being:

THE NUMBER ONE PRODUCER OF CERAMIC HONEYCOMB IN THE WORLD!

ACI maintains a Contract R&D group to assist customers with innovative solutions to a variety of needs. We toll manufacture customer directed proprietary bodies and products for broad range of applications. We assist the customer in developing new materials to fit industry needs.
