About Goldenhance:
Goldenhance is a privately held company specializing in selective gold plating on silver coins, medallions, and bars.

We have spent the last decade developing and refining our patented plating system, which was engineered specifically for use in the coin minting industry.

Our process requires no lacquers, inks or solvents. Plating with our technology produces consistent results with fast turnaround, and preserves your finest proof finishes.

HOW IT IS DONE

Select plating has been around for a number of years, but the technology was not progressing significantly until recently. Hand masking with lacquer was the principle method used and is still widely used today. This process, however has some drawbacks. One is the need for solvent to remove the lacquer from the coin after plating. Another is the high reject rate due to inconsistent masking. Also it is very labor intensive.

Pen plating is another method used for select plating. It is much more environmentally friendly than hand masking, but for particular designs, some masking is still needed. Also without masking, it is difficult to have consistent output. Pen plating is also very labor intensive.

The patented Goldenhance® technology uses no lacquers, or solvents, making it more environmentally friendly. It has a low rejection rate, and plating with our process is not as labor intensive.

How is this possible? Our high-tech plating system employs microscopes, computers, lasers, and the latest in cutting edge materials to produce what is required for high-volume select gold plating.

ARE WE FOR YOU?

If you are in need of selective gold plating on your silver coins, medallions, or bars, we can accommodate sizes from 1 gram to 1 kilogram.

Due to the time involved in the initial preparation for plating, the Goldenhance® process is not cost effective for individual coins or very small quantities; however, we do have low minimum piece requirements and can process very large orders as well.

GETTING STARTED

After you have browsed the samples of what has been done for other customers, and have decided that Goldenhance® may fit your needs, then you are ready to move on to the next step.

If you have a specific project in mind, be prepared to send artwork, and we will discuss your request by phone or e-mail.

Pricing is determined by several factors:
  • Size of coin or medallion
  • Complexity of the plated area
  • One or two-sided plating
  • Quantities

OUR PLACE OR YOURS

If you anticipate large yearly production of select plated coins, you may want to consider the advantages of plating on your own premises. Some of our customers have chosen to use our process at their own facilities for a variety of reasons. They have realized savings in postage. They have eliminated damage caused from shipping and extra handling. Some like the advantage of utilizing their own work force, which was easily trained for the task. Others find having total control over the project timeline is important. All agree there are many cost-saving benefits to using the Goldenhance® system in-house.

Should you decide to do you own plating, we will assist you in developing the most efficient system for your individual needs. We can recommend easily maintained gold plating solutions, efficient cleaning systems and provide ideas and accessories to simplify the handling of your coins. We also have available fully self-contained digital plating stations, designed and built here at Goldenhance.

Each properly equipped station has the capability of safely producing hundreds of 1 oz. coins per shift with an experienced operator. Therefore, your potential production rate is easily expandable simply by adding plating stations and operators.
