DryCleaner Furnaces remove small amounts (1 to 2% by weight) of insulation, varnish, paint, grease, oil, plastics, etc. by pyrolysis or "burning-without-flame." Materials must be cured, meaning no solvent vapors present. The metal parts are heated to 600-800°F (315-427°C) depending on the combustible materials present; the materials on the parts are driven off as smoke. The temperature of the smoke is then raised to 1400°F (760°C) for 1/2 second to completely burn it before discharging it to the atmosphere. The discharged effluent consists primarily of carbon dioxide and water vapor which are invisible, odorless, and harmless. DryCleaner models depend on a simple water spray "fire extinguisher" system based on furnace temperature to prevent any fire that may start in the furnace.FEATURES: BURNERS AVAILABLE for:1. Natural Gas2. Propane Gas3. Number 2 Fuel OilPRIMARY BURNER heats the metal parts to 600-800°F (315-427°C). The volatile materials are driven off as smoke. Burner flame is confined to combustion chamber never touching the parts.SECONDARY BURNER raises the temperature of the smoke to 1400°F (760°C) for 1/2 second to completely burn it before discharge to the atmosphere.

Controlled Pyrolysis® models can remove the same combustible materials as Dry Cleaner models but in greater quantities, 2 to 15% by weight. These models have a much more sensitive control system, (covered by U.S. Patent 4,270,898) located in the afterburner stack. That system monitors the rate of smoke emission from the parts by measuring the stack temperature. Any increase in smoke emission raises the stack temperature. When the stack temperature reaches a preset point, the stack controller turns on water spray mist to cool the parts, lowering the smoke emission rate before the smoke can reach an ignition state inside the oven's cleaning chamber. The water spray system also operates if the oven temperature exceeds its set-point temperature by 30°. A separate back-up water spray turns on should the main water spray nozzles become clogged. A manual-reset high-limit temperature controller turns off the primary burner if the oven temperature controller should fail.

Now you can strip parts with greater loads of combustibles... even transformers. RateControlled™ models combine all the features of Controlled Pyrolysis® with a more advanced system to detect overheating when it just starts to occur, allowing processing of materials that are difficult if not impossible to control, such as volatile combustibles like oil-soaked transformers, even partially-cured paint films on grates, and other hard-to-process materials. Some of these combustibles start to decompose at much lower temperatures than conventional materials and are more difficult to keep from igniting. The RateControlled™ System monitors the rates of rise of the furnace temperatures, the afterburner temperature and the rate of smoke emission. Should any temperature accelerate too fast, the rate controllers turn on the water spray to restore proper and safe operation. The rate controllers are factory-set and require no operator input.

The ultimate in safety...Pollution Control's patented InertGas™ models can handle any combustible that can legally be removed with heat, even space-age engineered plastics. Our InertGas™ ovens (U.S. Patent 4,557,203) expand the Controlled Pyrolysis® system with enhanced abilities to clean parts with heat rather than with chemicals. InertGas™ models leave the primary burner on all the time during the initial "pyrolysis" stage of the cleaning cycle to produce an oxygen-deficient atmosphere inside the furnace, i.e., approximately 10% oxygen instead of the usual 21% as in the air. This reduction in oxygen eliminates the danger of fire and allows for the safe processing of highly combustible materials in larger volumes. During the initial pyrolysis stage, the furnace temperature controller and the stack temperature controller each operate double water spray mists at double set-points for maximum protection. During the final "oxidation" stage of the process, the primary burner cycles on and off, increasing the oxygen level in the oven to completely oxidize any remaining char or carbon off the parts. Other features include back-up water spray in case of clogged nozzles, manual-reset high-limit switch, automatic time cycles, automatic cool-down and an operating diagnostic panel. Optional melt collectors shorten cycle times and fuel expense because material melts and flows does not have to be completely pyrolyzed to be removed.FEATURES:Special high temperature controller to 1,000ºF (538ºC).
