ADI Designs Vibratory Feeder for Hazardous Locations

Press Release:
Jan 20, 2010 — Erie, Pa. - An ammunition manufacturer needed a solution to feed primers, the part used to light the propellant in weapons, in a hazardous location. Automation Devices (ADI) was able to fill that need with a vibratory feeder designed for hazardous locations.
ADI’s ammunition primer feeders are quickly becoming the standard for orienting and feeding throughout the ammunition industry as a large number of domestic and foreign ammunition manufacturers are selecting an ADI air purged vibratory drive unit, coupled with an ADI 6-inch stainless steel feeder bowl.

“The features of this system include an air purged drive unit to keep hazardous residue from entering the drive unit’s inner workings and a pressure differential switch ensuring that if the air purged drive unit loses positive air flow, all power is disconnected,” explains Kevin Smith, President of Automation Devices. “ADI’s unique round feeder design lends itself to be functional for hazardous locations. This is a unique approach allowing a feeder bowl to operate in a hazardous location.”

Specifically designed feeder bowls such as this one provide high feed rates with parts oriented in the proper direction. Feeder bowls are available with a polyurethane coating to provide exceptional feed rates with very low amplitude of the feed bowl. Feed systems are available with single and multiple lines of feed.

Automation Devices Inc. produces a full line of tooled and un-tooled vibratory feeders and components. They are located in Fairview, Pa. They can be contacted at 814-474-5561 or view ADI products at www.autodev.com
