Apr 19, 2011 — IMI has published a new “Custom Solutions Profile” case study on their website documenting how they solved several problems a food processing customer was having with cleaning accumulated metal from their rare earth magnetic grate in their bag dump station. Magnetic grates are often used in bag dump stations to purify supplied products before they enter the processing stream. Common problems with the application include; safely lifting and maneuvering the magnetic grate out of the bag dump for cleaning, the tedious and time consuming process of removing accumulated metal by hand from the rare earth grate tubes, damage to the magnetic grate resulting from dropping it or attraction to other steel surfaces and quality control issues due to inadequate cleaning of the magnet. Included in the Custom Solutions Profile is an overview of the application detailing the main problems, the magnetic solution designed by Industrial Magnetics and an image of the product.
