Fourslide stamping is a process that unifies the operations of stamping and forming, creating complex stamped wires and parts consisting of bronze, aluminum, steel, and other metals with a bend larger than 90 degree. During the formation of the slide, sliding tools glide from four directions in mutual perpendicularity into the metal blank thereby bending the metal around a vertical mandrel. The slide movement is controlled by timed mechanisms termed cams existing in the slide forming area. These extra movements enable the fourslides to generate complex parts containing multiple twists and bends. Immensely precise and versatile, fourslides are competent of performing multiple operations before ejecting the part.
