Investment casting is a pattern casting approach that utilizes a thermoplastic or wax pattern. A refractory slurry invests (envelops) the pattern. Once the mold dries, the pattern is extracted out of the mold cavity by burning or melting it, and the molten metal is decanted into the resulting cavity. Aluminum, ferrous, titanium, and non-ferrous are some types in this genre of castings. Investment castings are widely used in military, dental, mining, music, automotive, food processing, sports and telecommunication industries.
