Sensing A/B Switch

Press Release:
Sep 21, 2007 — New from Electro Standards, the Model 4123 Sensing A/B Switch that automatically switches to the port with valid activity. This switch enables a device connected to the Common port to connect to the port with data activity, either A or B. Once activity on the connected port is lost, and if the other port has valid activity, this sensing switch automatically switches to the active port. The Model 4123 stays connected to the current port if neither port has activity. Then, if data activity is sensed on a port, the Model 4123 automatically switches to that port.

The user can override the automatic sensing operation from the front panel or through the remote command feature and force the Model 4123 to operate as an A/B switch. All switched signals are passed via copper contact relays that maintain their position and continuity even in the event of a power loss.

The Model 4123 also has a Remote RS232 serial port that permits off-site monitoring and/or management of the switch. The off-site operator can monitor the operation mode, auto-sensing or A/B, the switch position, change the mode or switch position, and lockout the front panel pushbutton operation.
