Standard Dowel (DOW): A cylindrical solid pin with a chamfered end for easy insertion. Dowel pins are commonly used to retain parts in a fixed position or to preserve alignment.

Oversized Dowel (DOWO): Manufactured to the same exacting standards and standard dowel pins except diameters are + .001" nominally oversized. Use in out of round holes or with soft compatible materials.

Pullout (DOWP): Manufactured to same ASME standards as standard dowels, with a threaded hole at one end. The threaded hole allows for the installation of a T-handle wrench to assist in removal.

Flat Vent (DOWPF): Flat vent dowels are designed to allow air to escape when installed into a blind hole. G.L. Huyett carries these pins as a special order item.

Spiral Grooved (DOWPG): A type of dowel pin primarily used in blind hole applications. The grooves allow gas or liquid to escape as the medium is displaced during installation. G.L. Huyett carries these pins as a special order.

Military Dowel (MS 16555): A cylindrical solid pin with machined ends for easy insertion. These parts meet MS16555.

Oversized Military Dowel (MS 16556): Manufactured to the exacting standards of MS16556, which calls out a +.001 oversized nominal diameter. Such nominals are normally used in worn out or out of round holes.

Metric DIN 7 (DOWM): A cylindrical solid pin with a chamfered end for easy insertion. Dowel pins are commonly used to retain parts in a fixed position or to preserve alignment. Din 7 is unhardened.

Metric DIN 6325 (DOWMH): A cylindrical solid pin with a chamfered end for easy insertion. Dowel pins are commonly used to retain parts in a fixed position or to preserve alignment. Din 6325 is hardened.

Metric DIN 7979D (DOWPM): Manufactured to DIN 7979D, these dowel pins have a threaded hole at one end. The threaded hole allows for the installation of a T-handled wrench to assist in removal.
