Where emphasis is on minimum investment and maintenance costs, flow measurement can be achieved with the proven and reliable measurement technology of a variable area flowmeter. Variable flowmeters offer a reliable measurement, good reproducibility and, thanks to a mechanical indicator, can also be used where no power is available.
 
The meters are equipped with glass or metal cones, depending on the application. The range of applications vary from small flow rates with controllers to process monitoring of fl ows in pipe sizes to DN 100. Variable area flowmeters are highly suitable for dry gases and steam. The standard meter, H250, from KROHNE is universally installed for gas measurement and thanks to a metal cone it is highly temperature, pressure and corrosion resistant.
 
Variable area flowmeters with a glass cone enables a visual check of the flow rate, e. g. a quick check of a flowing medium where contamination is a danger.

 VORTEX FLOW METERS
 
Vortex flowmeters measure gas and steam independent of pressure and temperature. This applies to wet gases and gas mixtures as well. The KROHNE OPTISWIRL 4070 C has integrated pressure and temperature compensation. This means that the meter can also accurately measure operating, standard volume and the mass fl ow under changing process conditions.
 
Vortex flowmeters are good replacements for differential pressure flowmeters whose accuracy and pressure loss is often poor. Vortex flowmeters are suitable for utility metering, for example, in steam or air circuits, a vortex meter is a cost-effective measurement for balancing energy consumption.

The OPTIFLUX 7300 combines the advantages of non wetted capacitive electrodes, a ceramic liner and the IFC 300 converter.
 
This electromagnetic flowmeter can be used for noisy applications, low conductivities, mediums tending to form an insulating film, applications with high vibrations, and oxidizing, abrasive and toxic mediums.
 
Instead of conventional electrodes that have a direct contact with the process liquid, OPTIFLUX 7300 has a non-contacting capacitive signal pick-up. The electrodes are designed as large-area capacitor plates, mounted behind the ceramic liner.
 
Because the electrodes have no contact with the medium, unwanted catalytic action with metallic parts is eliminated. A second benefit is that the insulation of electrodes no longer forms a risk. In case of a medium that tends to form a non conductive surface coating on the tube wall, the signal pick up between medium and electrodes will not be interrupted.
 
The smooth and pore free ceramic tube construction does not leak and is CIP / SIP resistant, making it highly suitable for hygienic applications in for example the food & beverage and pharmaceutical industry. It is very hard, non permeable and has an extreme and broad chemical resistance, fulfilling requirements of the chemical industry.
 
The construction of the OPTIFLUX 7300 offers an absolute leak tight solution, because leakage through the liner and leakage along the electrodes is not possible.
 
The IFC 300 converter standardly includes extensive diagnostics of the process and meter and powerful filter settings for stable flow measurements.

The IFC 070 is a battery powered electromagnetic signal converter designed for use in combination with the WATERFLUX 3000 sensor. It is ideal for remote locations in the water industry where no power connection is available and provides certainty in case of power failure.
 
The strengths of the WATERFLUX 3070 lies in its unique flow sensor construction with a rectangular and reduced cross section and its efficient coil construction.
 
The coils provide a stronger and more homogenous magnetic field, leading to an improved signal to noise ratio. The measurement is therefore independent of the flow profile and measurements are very stable. This results in a very good low flow performance.
 
Because of the unique WATERFLUX flow sensor design, whereby the mean flow velocity and flow profile are optimised within the rectangular and reduced cross section, the additional uncertainty for upstream disturbances is drastically reduced. The water meter can be installed directly after an elbow or reducer in the pipe without straight inlet or outlet lengths. A substantial reduction of inlet and outlet sections means smaller measurement pits.
