A disc check valve is a type of self acting valve having four parts; a body, a disc, a spring and a spring retainer. The disc and spring assembly are contained in a body which acts as a centering collar for the disc. The disc moves against the resistance of the spring and is held in place at a right angle to the fluid flow by the retainer. The tension of the spring determines the pressure at which the valve opens.
