 Eddy Current Separator

Aluminum Separator
  • Excellent for bulk waste line to recover aluminum
  • Streamlines separation of valuable metals from glass culls
  • Recover aluminum scrap in aluminum shell sand molds
  • Classification of aluminum and steel cans
  • Separates aluminum from crushed PET bottles
  • Separation of nails used in pachinko machines

The ALS eddy current separator is used mostly in recycling and recovery systems such as bulk waste, and aluminum molding sand. This system is excellent of the recovery of conductive but not necessarily magnetic attractive materials. Eddy current separators are useful for separation of aluminum, brass, copper, magnesium and other highly conductive materials. This system uses a high-energy permanent magnet inside a high-speed drum. As high conductive materials pass over the drum and through the magnetic field an eddy current occurs repelling the materials respective to their conductivity pushing them a distance determined by Fleming's left hand law. Applications include aluminum waste recycling, aluminum mold sand recovery, culling aluminum, steel and glass, separation of aluminum and plastics, and other recovery application for conductive materials.

Two models are available. The ALS-L is for bulk materials, while the ALS-S is better for finer grain or crushed materials.

 Electromagnetic Separator

Removes fine iron powder from base material
  • Easy installation
  • Removes fine grains even in low fluidity
  • Able to process high temperature materials
  • Screens are easy to clean/maintain
  • Base material never enters separation chamber
  • Manual, semi-automated and automated systems available

The CG, AT and FAT electromagnetic separators are designed specifically to remove fine iron powders introduced to the base material during the grinding process. Model CG is a base unit model requiring mechanical removal of the magnetic filter screen. Model AT is a semi continuous operation unit with two legs. While one leg is filtering material, releasing the magnetic force cleans the other leg. Model FAT is a continuous operation unit. Two CG units are installed in parallel with timer to alternate the flow between the two units. Iron powder is collected in a dumper box. Common powder base materials include chemical powders, powdered minerals, and dehydrated powdered foods. This device commonly follows a milling or grinding operation.

 Dry, Self-Cooled Suspension Electromagnet Separator

Patented self-cooling design saves energy and reduces maintenance
  • No insulating oil reduces fire hazard and maintenance
  • Maintains higher long term magnetic force over air-cooled or oil-cooled units
  • Not effected by vibration, oscillation or tilting loads
  • No oil design eliminates maintenance issue, fire hazard and paperwork

The HUF-S is a dry, self-cooled, suspension type of magnetic separator based on an innovative concept. A magnetization coil is connected to a radiant cooling plate via selective affinity (a patented hybridization method), producing an enhanced cooling effect. This new, suspension type hybrid magnetic separator is ideal for waste-processing plants handling bulky waste that generates large amounts of powdery dust.

The HUF-S does not use insulating oil or cooling fans and yet efficiently cools the unit maintaining maximum magnetic strength over long hours of operation. Insulating oil has a flash point of 150C and create a Class 4 hazardous substance requiring registration with fire authorities. Cooling fans create noise and consume additional power. Vibration, oscillation or tilting loads do not affect the HUF-S's lightweight structure.

 Electromagnet Drum Separator

Large diameter drum separator
  • Excellent for scrap iron recovery from crushed bulk waste
  • Pre-separator for shredder line

The EDS electromagnet drum separator is designed with a large drum to aid in the capture of scrap iron and ferrous material from bulk waste or in conjunction with a recycling shredder. The drum is mounted at the end of a belt, above the belt with waste or shredded product traveling on a belt below. The EDS electromagnet drum separator lifts the material from a belt underneath and carries it up and over the drum, dropping it on the opposite side of the drum in separate pile for the rest of the material that simply falls off the end of the belt.

EDS - Model EDS is a spool shaped drum separator used for scrap metal and bulk waste in conjunction with a shredder line. Need sizes, options and styles available. Custom products are available on request.

 Twin-Pole Permanent Magnet Separator

Separates traditionally difficult types of scrap iron
  • Ensures accurate separation of traditionally difficult types of scrap iron
  • Twin pole run in opposite directions
  • Wide magnetic field increase throughput
  • Available in two or three stage designs

Sometimes using a standard permanent magnet drum separator is not enough. Materials with low magnetic attraction may slip through into the plastics or aluminum bins. The Twin Pole permanent magnet, drum separators using two drums spinning in opposite directions, creating a wide strong magnetic field that captures materials with low magnetic attraction. These materials are kicked to the side while the non-magnetic materials such as plastic, glass, and aluminum drop straight through. Nippon Magnetics can produce multi-stage twin pole separators to meet special requirements. This technology is typically used in recycling and reprocessing applications.

 Permanent Magnet Separator

Working standard in drum magnetic separators
  • Available in horizontal and vertical pole
  • Separates iron and iron powder from graded recycled materials
  • Separates wood, mineral, ceramic, chemical and foods from ferrous materials

The EN and ENS permanent magnet drum separators are very commonly used in processing and recycling industries to remove, purify or separate materials, allowing them to be of higher value. EN and ENS separators work well for mining and mineral processing requires pulverizing materials and then separating the ferrous or iron content from the batch. Ceramics often deal with very fine powders, which are produced by metal grinding on metal. This leaves fine particles and residue of metal filing and powder, which need to be removed to purify the ceramic powder. Food processing – grinding wheat, oats, corn, etc. – use similar techniques, requiring the removal of the metal residue and powder. Chemical processing also requires pure base materials in order to have the proper chemical reaction and blending. Moving from fine powders to larger parts, recycling requires separating materials into their proper group to maximize their value. Wood and food processing are also common application for these separators. Nippon Magnetics' EN and ENS separators are used throughout the world for sorting and separating ferrous metal from non-ferrous metal from plastic from glass, leaving each in their own bin.

EN - Model EN is a plain drum shaped separator used for both wet and dry applications. Two specific types are available; either horizontal or vertical poles.

The model EN is available in four standard drum diameters; 265 mm (10.4 in), 315 mm (12.4 in), 355 mm (14 in), and 405 mm (16 in). The drums are available in a number of widths ranges from 300 mm (11.8 in) to 900 mm (35.4 in) depending on the drum diameter – see table.

Processing capacity ranges between 20 M3/hour (706.3 cf/hour) to 118 M3/hour (4167.1 cf/hour) depending on the drum width and diameter. Custom products are available on request.
